Incredibly, there was another earthquake but this one was in Chile and was even stronger than Haiti's. It measured 8.8 on the richter scale. So far, it doesn't seem there are as many fatalities as what happened in Haiti. It makes me wonder what's going on
Lyrics | Marvin Gaye - What’s Going On lyrics
within the earth's core. Are we destroying the earth as some Scientists say? I do my best to consume and recycle but wonder if what we are doing is enough! And to top it off, the earthquake started a tsunami. Between hurricanes, tornados, tsunamis, earthquakes, floods, volcano eruptions, landslides, avalanches, droughts, hailstorms, heatwaves, cyclonic storms and lahars we definitely cannot compete with nature. She does what she wants, when she wants.
The 2010 winter Olympics has been somewhat uneventful for me. Don't get me wrong, the athletes are performing to the best of their abilities but I haven't been as excited as most people. I've watched a few events and of course route for my fellow Canadians and if they are not in an event, I have a tendency to route for the long shot, the underdog. Go Losers Go!! I get excited for the summer Olympics and of course the most exciting event in my opinion, starting in a few months, the World Cup!! I can hardly wait!!
Well, its been a lazy wintry Sunday afternoon. I've got my niece, my daughters godson and my lil' dumplin' keeping the house alive otherwise I think I'd probably be sleeping all day. I was up early, made breaky for everyone, then a late lunch and just whipped up some dinner. The others have been in and out of sleep most of the day, only making an appearance when their nostrils get a whiff of food.
I found the keyboard a few hours ago and plugged in the adapter for my boo. I figure the sooner I get her used to tapping those keys and enjoying the sound of music, the more interested she should be when its time for her to take lessons. I'm laying a thick foundation.
Its time to put a dent in the couch so I'm going to get those kiddies into the bath and pop in a dvd until its bed time.
Later lovelies!

S'not Nice
My baby has a cold. She sneezes and has the occasional cough plus a runny nose. Last night was rough for both of us. The cold made her restless and I slept like a cat, up at her every move. I'm not certain how she caught the cold since I haven't taken her outside for almost a week. It's been frigid the past few days!
It's sad to watch her toss and turn trying to settle herself comfortably. In the past I've used an aspirator to help siphon the mucus from her nose but it hasn't worked well. I'm paranoid of shoving the darn thing too far up her nostrils and she isn't keen on me doing it. So, what's a mom to do?! I resorted to ancient methods. If you're squeamish, now's a good time to move to the next post. Ok? Good!
I've been sucking the mucus out of her nose with my mouth. Yes, my mouth!! I've got my family COMPLETELY grossed out! But it works! She breathes tons better after I do it. It's easy and you'd do it too if your little one couldn't breathe properly. Wouldn't you?!
According to one of my sisters, she "didn't love her kids enough to do it". HAHAHA She's hilarious! And coincidentally I gross her out too.

Oh well, my babes is breathing much better tonight but why am I awake at 2am you ask? I had a cup of coffee today and I think that's the culprit. I had stopped ingesting caffeine during my pregnancy and nursing months. This is the second time I've had a cup since I've finished nursing. I suppose I'll have to start drinking coffee more often to get accustomed to it again...its an adjustment thing .
I seriously have no sleep in my eyes. Thinking about pouring myself a shot of ANYTHING (except tequila...long story, another post) to knock me out.

Back to E-School
I don't know what to do. I'm half way through my maternity leave and have been considering going back to school to better myself financially. Yes, I have a decent job and the pay is good but with a new baby and another future tuition to fund, I need to increase my earnings.
I've been considering online learning since I am home and have some time (between feedings, naps, etc) to do some studying. The convenience of staying home and getting a degree is enticing but I know it demands discipline and dedication more so than going to a physical building. Am I such a person?
I can be, and will be, but will my degree be recognized as legitimate in the eye of my employer? I figure I will email my boss and ask his opinion on the matter. I might as well...right? Nothing to lose. If given the thumbs up I'll start asap.
